以上の論文を基礎として、Dr. Luo Feng の研究で、細胞分裂能の激しい癌ほどCDC6タンパクが過剰に発生していることが示され、このタンパクを消去すれば、癌細胞がその悪性を失い正常細胞と同様の状態に回復するのではないかと考えられた。
